3/3: ROCKFORD SKATES BY WITH A 6-5 WIN IN A SHOOTOUT

A wild and crazy start to this game as just 31 seconds into the game a scrum broke out followed up by another scrum just one minute and 30 seconds later. After all of the extra curricular activities ended the teams finally played some hockey.

Adam Edinger scored at 4:27 followed up just 28 seconds later by a Vlad Serov goal. The IceHogs would respond with two of their own to tie but the Mechanics scored late in the first to end the period with a 3-2 lead. Rockford would take a 4-3 lead into the third period off of two second period goals by Robin Big Snake and Jason Noterman.

The Mechanics would outscore the IceHogs 2-1 in the third period but headed into the shootout tied at 5-5. In the shootout it was all Hogs as four of their five shooters scored on goaltender Rod Branch. Adam Edinger and Brent Gretzky tallied the lone shootout goals for the Mechanics but it was not enough as they fell 6-5.

KRIS VERNARSKY SET A NEW MECHANICS RECORD FOR MOST SHORTHANDED GOALS SCORED IN A SEASON WHEN HE SCORED HIS 4TH SHG IN THE THIRD PERIOD

- 3/4: MECHANICS TAME THE VIPERS, WIN 3-1!

Tom Kotsopoulos scored at 1:48 of the first period to give the Mechanics the early 1-0 lead. Roanoke would respond at 12:49 of the first and both teams headed into the intermission tied at 1-1. Adam Edinger would net his team leading 39th goal of the season at 1:45 of the second to give the Mechanics the 2-1 lead. That goal would turn out to be the game-winning goal as Chris Gignac would net an empty net shorthanded goal with 17 seconds left in the game.

Rod Branch made his 55th start in net and made 26 saves for his 28th win of the season.

Friday, March 10th: FINAL MEETING WITH MISSOURI

The Mechanics face the Missouri River Otters for the sixth and final time this season. Through five meetings thus far the Mechanics lead the season series 3-2-0 and and lead the all-time series at 5-4-1. FACE-OFF: 7:30 PM

Saturday, March 11th: MECHANICS HEAD TO FLINT-TOWN

The Mechanics head to Perani Arena and Event Center where just two weeks prior they defeated the Generals 5-4 in a shootout. Overall the Mechanics are 12-5-0 lifetime against the Generals. FACE-OFF: 7:30 PM

Sunday, March 12th: FLINT RETURNS FOR THE SECOND MEETING IN TWO DAYS

The Generals come to Fraser for the second of the home-and-home series. Last time Flint was at the Garage, they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker on Pink at The Rink II night.

Edinger, Szabo, Gretzky Line Finally Has A Name

The great line of Adam Edinger, Peter Szabo and Brent Gretzky finally have a name.

"The Assembly Line" was submitted along with hundreds of others but won out on our website vote by an astonishing margin. The other three final entries were, "Pit Crew," "Engine Line" and "Motor City Drive Train." The winning name was submitted by David Bolam. He wins an autographed jersey by the line and dinner at bd's Mongolian barbeque.

Stats of the Week

When Adam Edinger scores a goal the Mechanics are 20-7-2, and 24-8-2 when he gets a point.

When Brent Gretzky nets a point the Mechanics are 26-8-3.

When Peter Szabo nets a point the Mechanics are 25-12-1.

Goaltender of the Week

The Mechanics nominate Rod Branch as the Southern Sports Supply Goaltender of the week for the 20th week of the season. This week Branch was 1-0-1 making 53 saves

on 59 shots while compiling a .898 SV% and a 3.00 GAA. Branch alos was credited with an assist on the Mechanics fourth goal of the game against Rockford on Friday March 3rd.
