
Rockford set for first East Coast trip in three years

The Rockford IceHogs continued its longest road swing of the season during Week 20 and is ready for its longest trip of the campaign during Week 21. The IceHogs split a pair of games on the road at Motor City and Flint over the weekend and have completed three games of the seven game road swing.

-Defenseman Bob Nardella was called-up to the Chicago Wolves (AHL) on Saturday, March 4.
-Defenseman Bob Nardella was activated from the 10-Day Injured Reserve on Saturday, March 4.
-Defenseman Corey Hessler was loaned to the Milwaukee Admirals (AHL) on Friday, March 3.
-Winger Rob Voltera was activated from the 7-Day Injured Reserve on Friday, March 3.
-Winger Bruce Watson was activated from Team Suspension on Friday, March 3.
-Defenseman Matt Gens was placed on Team Suspension on Friday, March 3.
Bacon Bits:
Winger Greg Barber has an IceHogs team season-high 11-game point streak. The streak is the second longest in club-history (Steve Cygan 12-games in 2002-03) and Barber has 4g-10-14pts during his hot stretch.
The IceHogs penalty kill has struggled over the past nine-games as the opposition is 16-68 on the power play, a 23.5% conversion rate.
Center Olivier Proulx tied an IceHogs record recording a penalty in 12 straight contests. His streak came to an end on Saturday at Flint and during the 12-games, Proulx racked up 64 PIM's.
The IceHogs head east for the first time in over three years this week. Rockford last played at Elmira (Wednesday's opponent) on Feb. 1, 2002, and Adirondack (Friday's opponent) Jan. 31, 2002.
Rockford will make its first ever visit to Danbury (Saturday) and Roanoke (Sunday) this weekend.
Defenseman Bob Nardella was called-up to the Chicago Wolves on Saturday, making him the 12th IceHogs skater this season to see action in the American Hockey League. That is the most in AA professional hockey.
On Sunday, when the Milwaukee Admirals and Wolves faced-off, there were four Hogs skaters competing in that game. Defenseman Nathan Lutz and Corey Hessler for the Ads and Nardella and forward Billy Tibbetts for Chicago.
Defenseman Tom Zabkowicz tied an IceHogs season-high on Friday recording a plus/minus rating of +4.
Rookie center Yannick Tifu has four multi-point games in his last seven. During that stretch, Tifu has 3g-7a-10pts.
Hot Hog Week 20:
Winger Jason Notermann led an IceHogs barrage that netted 10 goals in two games during Week 20. Notermann tallied four of the Hogs 10 markers and added an assist. The third-year winger continues to pace the IceHogs in scoring with 63 overall points on the season.
Upcoming Games:
Wednesday, March 8 at Elmira Jackals. The game is slated to start at 6:05 p.m. Rockford returns to Elmira for the first time is over three years to take on the Jackals for the second and final time this season.
Friday, March 10 at Adirondack Frostbite. The game starts at 6:35 p.m. The Hogs and Frostbite match-up for the first time this season at the Glens Falls Civic Center.
Saturday, March 11 at Danbury Trashers. The puck drops at 6:30 p.m. One of the IceHogs more anticipated road battles of the season sees them visiting Danbury for the first time ever.
Sunday, March 12 at Roanoke Valley Vipers. The game gets started at 4 p.m. Rockford wraps up its season-long seven-game roadswing with its first ever visit to Roanoke, Va.
