THE "GAME" THAT WAS:
March 5, 2006 @ Elmira Jackals (4-1 W)
The Richmond RiverDogs played only one game this week and came up victors against division rival Elmira by the score of 4-1. Evgeny Lazarev scored a pair of goals for the RiverDogs to lead the way. John DiPace and Matt Goody got the other two goals for Richmond. Mike D'Alessandro picked up another win between the pipes as he stopped 39 of 40 shots. Konstantin Kalmikov got the loan marker for the Elmira Jackals. Attendance: 2,478.
THE WEEK AHEAD:
The Richmond RiverDogs continue their seven game road trip with a pair of contests against their state rivals, the Roanoke Valley Vipers, on Friday, March 10th and Saturday, March 11th. Following the weekend set, the RiverDogs will see Elmira, Rockford and Fort Wayne before returning to the Richmond Coliseum for a 7:05 pm game on Wednesday, March 22nd, against the Roanoke Valley Vipers.
RIVERDOGS PLAYOFF PICTURE: The fight for the 2006 Colonial Cup playoffs continues for the Richmond RiverDogs. With the win against the Elmira Jackals, the team's record stands at 27-24-5 for 59 points and 9th in the overall UHL standings. The team is two points behind 8th place Quad City but Richmond has one in hand on the Mallards. The Motor City Mechanics hold the 7th spot with 64 points, however the RiverDogs have 3 games in hand. The Flint Generals hold the 10th spot in the standings with 54 points.
