McRae Named General Manager & Alternate Governor

LONDON, ONTARIO: London Knights President Dale Hunter announced today that owner Basil McRae has been named General Manager & Alternate Governor of the hockey club effective immediately.

McRae has an extensive hockey background having played for the London Knights from 1978-81 before going on to play 16 years of pro hockey (12 in the NHL). He has been a Pro Scout for the Columbus Blue Jackets the last three years and spent five years as a Pro Scout with the St. Louis Blues organization before that.

He is no stranger to the London Knights having been an owner of the team since it was purchased with Mark and Dale Hunter back in 2000. In the past 14 seasons, McRae has been actively involved in scouting for the organization as well as recruiting a number of prospects from the United States. His son, Philip, was also a member of the London Knights from 2006-2010.

It was announced earlier today that London Knights former General Manager Mark Hunter has accepted a position with the Toronto Maple Leafs as their Director of Player Personnel.
