Cole Cassels Named CHL Player of the Week

Toronto, ON - The Canadian Hockey League today announced that Vancouver Canucks prospect Cole Cassels of the Oshawa Generals is the CHL Player of the Week for the week ending October 19 with two goals and eight assists for 10 points in four games along with a plus-minus rating of plus-13.

Cassels had four multi-point performances last week helping the Generals earn four victories. Last Monday night he scored once and added an assist as part of a 7-1 win over the Ottawa 67's, then recorded a pair of assists in a 6-4 win over the Sarnia Sting on Friday. On Saturday night he matched a career-high with four points in a 6-0 win over the Owen Sound Attack scoring once with three assists and earning first star honours. His week wrapped up Sunday with two assists in the 4-2 win over the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds lifting the Generals into first place in the OHL's Eastern Conference standings with a 9-1-1-0 record.

Cassels, a 19-year-old from Columbus, OH, is playing in his fourth OHL season with the Generals. Selected by the Canucks in the third round of the 2013 NHL Draft, Cassels has 20 points in 11 games so far this season after recording 73 points in 61 games last season.
