Portland Pirates News Release

Portland, ME - The Portland Pirates (22-13-1-0) completed a two-game sweep of the Bridgeport Sound Tigers (19-18-2-1), with a 3-1 win on Saturday night at the Cross Insurance Arena. Mike McKenna collected his 12th straight victory, setting the franchise record for consecutive wins by a goalie, previously held by Jhonas Enroth, who won 11 straight from January 26-February 24, 2010.

American Hockey League All-Star Rob Schremp led the way offensively, netting a power-play goal at 16:11 of the first period. Cameron Gaunce and MacKenzie Weegar assisted on the play.

The Sound Tigers were gaining the momentum midway through the third period, when Garrett Wilson finished off a two-on-one netting the puck past Chris Gibson. Wilson has now scored in three consecutive games.

Dylan Olsen put the game out of reach with a laser shot from the point to make it 3-0. Chase Balisy collected the assist on the play at 4:53 of the third period.

Mike McKenna made 21 saves, but saw his shutout bid snapped with a Bracken Kearns' goal with 10 minutes left in regulation. The goaltender's 21 saves brings the Gorham Saves for Charity to $4,510 so far this season.

The win improves the Pirates to (22-13-1-0) on the year, while Bridgeport drops to (19-18-2-1)

The Pirates travel to Providence for an afternoon match-up with the Bruins. Puck drop is set for 3:05 p.m. Jeff Mannix calls all the action starting at 2:40 with the Pirates Pregame Show, served by Dunkin Donuts, on the WPEI Portland Pirates Radio Network, Presented by Napa Auto Parts, on 95.9/95.5 FM.
