Idaho Steelheads News Release
BOISE, Idaho¾ The Idaho Steelheads Hockey Club announced today that they'll be without their two leading scorers heading into the final stretch of the regular season. Forwards Bryan McGregor and Mark Bomersback have been recalled by the Binghamton Senators of the American Hockey League.
McGregor, 25, has 50 points (23g-27a) in 54 games since joining the Steelheads on Oct. 29 from the Johnstown Chiefs. The Niagara Falls native also has a team-high plus/minus rating of +15 and three game-winning goals for Idaho. McGregor attended 2008-09 training camp with the Syracuse Crunch of the AHL and attended 2007-08 camp with the Chicago Blackhawks of the National Hockey League and the Rockford IceHogs of the AHL.
The 27-year-old Bomersback has scored 46 points (22g-24a) in 40 games with Idaho this season and has a +13 rating. He had been reassigned to the Steelheads by the AHL's Providence Bruins on Nov. 18, 2008. After signing an ECHL contract to play the 2008-09 season with the Steelheads, Bomersback was invited to attend the Bruins training camp. He was then signed by the Bruins to an AHL PTO (player tryout contract) and suited up for nine games, scoring one goal and 10 penalty minutes. Bomersback, who hails from Rochester, AB, played 35 games for Idaho during the 2007-08 season and tallied 39 points (20g-19a). He also played 21 games for the (now defunct) Iowa Stars of the AHL where he had 2 goals and 5 assists.
The Steelheads expect to announce more player movement in the coming days.
Idaho will next play the Grizzlies in Utah on Wednesday, Mar. 11.
