Alaska Aces News Release

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - Alaska goalie Jean-Philippe Lamoureux stopped all 30 shots he faced in recording his league-leading 26th win and seventh shutout, 2-0, over Las Vegas before 4,180 Sunday at Sullivan Arena.

Lamoureux has posted a whitewash in two of his last three starts, and extended his own club record with another spotless performance Sunday, including six saves alone on a five-on-three power play for the Wranglers late in the first period. The Aces also squandered a two-man advantage for 1:38 in the opening 20 minutes, and the teams headed to the dressing room locked in a scoreless tie.

Luke Erickson scored the only goal Lamoureux would need at 3:21 of the second period, firing a rebound past Vegas starter Glenn Fisher. A turnover by the Wranglers led to the second goal, scored by Galbraith on a re-direction underneath Fisher's pads, set up by Vladimir Novak and Corbin Schmidt at 9:13.

A tense, often chippy, game came to a head with four seconds remaining when a line brawl developed, with six fighting majors, five game misconducts, and an additional 10-minute misconduct all assessed. The teams combined for 132 penalty minutes (77 for Vegas, 55 for Alaska) and to go 0-for-16 on the power play.

With the victory, the Aces (36-21-3, a season-high 15 games over .500) jumped back into first place by a point over idle Idaho, which has three games in hand. Alaska has won 13 of its last 15 games at home and eight of its last 10 overall heading into Wednesday night's series opener against Phoenix at 7:15 p.m.

The Aces play the Roadrunners six consecutive times, with the first four played in Anchorage this week. The Phoenix series continues Friday and Saturday at 7:15 p.m. and concludes Sunday at 3:05 p.m. The Roadrunners will enter the series at just 26-28-3 but beat the Aces in their only previous meeting this year, 5-2 in Phoenix February 21. All four games this week will be broadcast live on KFQD AM 750, with Peanut Farm Pre-Game Show coverage beginning 15 minutes prior to the opening face-off.
