Frisco, TX - The Arkansas Travelers split a doubleheader with the Frisco RoughRiders on Monday night, with the 'Riders taking game one 5-2 and the Travs winning 3-0 in game two.

Game Two

RHP Kyle McGowin (W, 2-1) took a no-hitter into the seventh inning but RF Ryan Cordell lined a single to left to lead off the seventh. The hit was the only one surrendered by McGowin who also tied a career-high with nine strikeouts. The righty walked one. Over his last two starts (both against Frisco), McGowin has worked 14 innings and allowed a run on five hits with 16 strikeouts.

The Travs scored their three runs over the first two innings. Arkansas loaded the bases in the first and scored twice thanks to a RF Cal Towey single and C Wade Wass sac fly.

2B Alex Yarbrough went 2-for-2 with two walks and an RBI double in the second inning.

Game One

2B Sherman Johnson belted his first home run of the season in the first inning of game one, but Arkansas fell 5-2.

Both teams mustered just three hits apiece in the game, but the RoughRiders big blow came from CF Lewis Brinson on a three-run home run in the third.

Frisco added two more runs in the sixth when LF Zach Cone lined a double inside the first base bag and down the right field line.

Arkansas did bring the tying run to the plate after scoring a run on a LF Bo Way single and putting runners on first and second, but pinch-hitter Cal Towey struck out to end the game.

With the split, the Travs are now 4-7 on the season. The two teams will have a quick turnaround and conclude the series on Thursday morning at Dr. Pepper Ballpark. First pitch is scheduled for 11:05 a.m.
