Frisco, TX - The Arkansas Travelers earned the series win over the Frisco RoughRiders on Tuesday morning with a 8-7 victory at Dr. Pepper Ballpark.

After scoring a run in the top of the first, Arkansas immediately fell behind when Frisco belted four extra-base hits in the bottom of the frame, capped by a RF Zach Cone two-run home run, to take a 4-1 lead.

The Travs chiseled away at the deficit with two in the fourth, and re-took the lead in the fifth with a four-run frame.

Frisco continued to counter the see-saw with single runs in the fifth, sixth and seventh to tie the game 7-7.

In the eighth, RF Cal Towey led off with a triple off the wall in center and scored on a SS Anthony Phillips bunt single to give Arkansas the 8-7 advantage.

The 'Riders put men on second and third with one out, down 8-7 in the eighth, but RHP Danny Reynolds induced a lineout and groundout to escape with the Travs still in the lead.

RHP Geoff Broussard (S, 1) earned the save with a 1-2-3 ninth with two strikeouts.

RHP Victor Alcantara started the game for Arkansas and settled in after allowing the four runs in the first. In total, Alcantara worked five innings and surrendered five runs on seven hits with two walks and two strikeouts.

LHP Tyler DeLoach (W, 1-0) worked to three batters between the seventh and eighth and picked up the win.

C Wade Wass went 2-for-4 with a double, walk and three RBIs for Arkansas.

Phillips and LF/RF Brandon Bayardi both had two hits apiece as well.

The Travs finished 5-for-12 with runners in scoring position.

With the win, Arkansas improved to 5-7 on the season and has won back-to-back games for the first time this year.

The Travs will enjoy a day off on Wednesday and begin a four-game series vs. Springfield at Dickey-Stephens Park on Thursday night. First pitch for the first three games is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. with a Sunday matinee at 2:10 p.m.
