SPRINGFIELD, MO - Cy Sneed and Edison Frias teamed to blank the Cardinals Monday night as the Hooks picked up their fifth consecutive victory, a 6-0 result at Hammons Field.

Sneed (1-0), who has nine scoreless innings under his belt to start the season, needed 69 pitches to navigate through five frames. He permitted three hits and one walk. Frias struck out seven and walked one while stranding five runners over the final four innings.

Monday marked Corpus Christi's third shutout victory of the season.

Teoscar Hernandez provided the big hit for the Hooks, a three-run home run to left-center off Chris Thomas in the seventh, making it a 4-0 game. Thomas had retired all 14 batters he faced over his first three outings of the year.

Corpus Christi (8-3) got a run in the eighth against Kurt Heyer. J.D. Davis smacked a double to right-center and promptly came home on Ronnie Mitchell's single up the middle.

Conrad Gregor capped the scoring in the ninth with an RBI triple into the left-field corner. The Hooks' first three-bagger of the year plated Mott Hyde, who went 3-for-4 with two runs scored out of the nine-hole.

Keegan Yuhl (0-0, 1.04) gets the ball for Corpus Christi in Tuesday's finale. Springfield (6-5) sends Trey Nielsen (0-2, 10.00) to the hill. First pitch is 11:10 and the game can be heard in Corpus Christi on 1400 KUNO-AM and online at cchooks.com.
