
Mazzola Earns SAL All-Star Honors

Augusta, GA - Augusta GreenJackets infielder/outfielder Josh Mazzola was named to the 2009 South Atlantic League All-Star team as announced by the South Atlantic League on Monday.
Mazzola currently leads the league with 93 runs batted in and is the team leader with 15 home runs for the GreenJackets this season. A steady presence in the lineup throughout the summer, Mazzola got red hot in mid-summer with eight doubles, six home runs and 27 RBI's in the month of June.
"I'm honored to be recognized by the league with this selection," Mazzola said. "I'm glad that a season's worth of hard work has paid off with this honor."
The All-Star Team was voted on by the 16 South Atlantic League team's field managers, general managers, sports writers and broadcasters for a total of 64 votes. Mazzola was the lone GreenJacket representative. West Virginia's Rudy Owens was named the South Atlantic League's most outstanding pitcher, Hagerstown's Derek Norris earned Most Outstanding MLB Prospect honors and Asheville's Jordan Pacheco was named the South Atlantic League's Most Valuable Player.
