Gnats-GreenJackets Postponed
August 31, 2009 - South Atlantic League (SAL1)
Savannah Sand Gnats News Release
AUGUSTA, Ga. - Monday night's scheduled game between the Savannah Sand Gnats and the Augusta GreenJackets has been postponed due to unplayable field conditions and will be made up as part of a doubleheader beginning on Tuesday at 5:05 p.m.
This sets up a situation where the two clubs will play three games in a 24-hour time period with the doubleheader Tuesday night and Wednesday morning's game scheduled for 10:05 a.m. LHP Robert Carson (8-9, 2.89) and LHP Ari Ronick (6-5, 2.63) are still scheduled to throw in the first game on Tuesday while righties Armando Rodrigeuz (1-0, 1.59) and Andrew Reichard (3-4, 2.60) will throw in the second game.
Savannah also made a roster move today, activating outfielder Juan Lagares off the disabled list. Lagares, in his third season with the club, was hitting .290 before a wrist injury sidelined him in late May. He had been on the disabled list since May 28.
