Mayor Joe Hogsett Leads-Off Memorial Day Ceremonies at Victory Field this Evening

Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett will lead-off a host of Memorial Day events and ceremonies at Victory Field tonight. First pitch is at 6:05 p.m. and gates open at 4:30 p.m. as the Tribe (25-23) opens and four-game home stand through Thursday against the Rochester Redwings (28-22).

At approximately 5:45 p.m. Mayor Hogsett will address the crowd then throw a ceremonial first pitch. The Mayor also threw out a ceremonial pitch on the night of the Indians' home opener back on April 14.

Tonight's game is filled with Memorial Day activities and ceremonies focused on honoring, recognizing and remembering United States military service members:

Indiana National Guard's Sergeant Ronald Walker will sing the National Anthem and will be joined on the field by the Indiana National Guard ceremonial color guard.

Prior to the anthem a moment of silence will be recognized in honor of military service members who gave their lives in protection of our freedom.

Indians players and coaches will wear special camouflage jerseys tonight that will be auctioned off during the game with proceeds going to WGU Scholarships Fund for Indiana National Guard Members. Immediately following the game, fans in attendance at Victory Field will be treated to a Memorial Day-theme fireworks celebration.

With a favorable weather forecast featuring game-time temperatures in the mid-80s, the Monday Dollar Menu promotion in effect that offers several ballpark menu items for just $1.

Worth noting on Memorial Day, the ballpark name Victory Field in downtown Indianapolis is carried over from the Indianapolis Indians' previous home located on West 16th Street and is in reference to the United States' victory in World War II. Click here to read more.
