
Shuck Recalled to Chicago Today, Kahnle Optioned to Charlotte

(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) - OF J.B. Shuck, who was in the midst of an 11-game hit-streak with the Charlotte Knights, has been recalled by the Chicago White Sox today. In a corresponding move, RHP Tommy Kahnle was optioned to Charlotte by Chicago. Charlotte's roster now consists of 25 active players.
Shuck, a native of Westerville, OH, becomes the 10th player promoted to the Chicago White Sox this season. RHP Erik Johnson (April 19, May 5 & May 23), catcher Kevan Smith (April 24), RHP Miguel Gonzalez (April 25 & May 9), catcher Hector Sanchez (April 26), RHP Daniel Webb (April 27), infielder Carlos Sanchez (April 28), RHP Tommy Kahnle (April 29, May 5 & May 23), RHP Scott Carroll (May 6), and LHP Matt Purke (May 13) are the others who have been promoted to the White Sox this year.
In 39 games with the Charlotte Knights this season, Shuck is hitting .299 (46-for-154) with 20 runs scored, two doubles, two triples, two home runs, 17 RBIs, and four stolen bases. The 28-year-old has also reached base in 17-straight home games with the Knights dating back to April 20.
Claimed off waivers by Chicago from the Cleveland Indians on November 3, 2014, Shuck has spent parts of the past two seasons with the White Sox. He opened this season with the White Sox and went 0-for-9 at the plate in four games before being optioned to Charlotte on April 18. He hit .266 (38-for-143) in 79 games with the White Sox last season.
Kahnle returns to the Knights after three stints with the White Sox this season. In 13 games with the Knights this season, the 26-year-old is 1-0 with two saves and a 2.76 ERA. In four games with the White Sox, he is 0-1 with a 2.70 ERA.
The Charlotte Knights return home to BB&T Ballpark tonight to open a seven-game homestand on Memorial Day at 7:05 p.m. Gates open at 6:00 p.m. tonight as the Knights pay tribute to the Military and will wear special Military jerseys.
