Louisville Bats News Release
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Louisville Bats rallied in the ninth inning to beat the Toledo Mud Hens 3-2 on Monday afternoon at Louisville Slugger Field.
Designated hitter Jason Krizan got the Mud Hens on the board in the third inning with a solo blast to right field.
In his second major league rehab start for the Bats, right hander Anthony DeSclafani (0-1, 5.14) threw four innings, gave up one run on one hit and struck out seven. DeSclafani threw 62 pitches, 45 for strikes.
The Mud Hens tacked onto their lead when Casey McGehee lined a homer to left to make it 2-0 in the fifth inning.
Toledo's starter right hander Dustin Molleken (1-1, 2.73) recorded five innings of work after giving up one hit and zero runs.
Things started going the Bats way in the sixth when a bases loaded walk delivered their first run of the game making it 2-1. The threat ended when the Bats couldn't bring in the tying-run after loading the bases with one out.
In the ninth inning, the Bats got their break and tied the game behind a double from right fielder Kyle Waldrop which scored pinch-runner Carlos Triunfel. Two batters later, second baseman Juan Perez's infield single scored Waldrop to give the Bats their fifth straight win.
Bats right hander Drew Hayes (2-1, 5.56) earned the win for his two and one-thirds inning of relief.
The Bats and Mud Hens will be back at Louisville Slugger Field tomorrow night for a 7:05 game. A starting pitcher has yet to named for the Bats and right hander Shane Greene (0-0, 0.00) will go for the Mud Hens.
