Mayhem Set Goal Record in Columbus, 5-1

January 16, 2016 - SPHL (SPHL)
Macon Mayhem News Release

The Macon Mayhem shook off recent scoring doldrums in record fashion with a 5-1 win at Columbus on Friday night. The five goals is a franchise record for goals in a game. The club's previously had scored four goals in a game on eight different occassions.

The Mayhem had five different goal scorers and goaltender Garrett Bartus was again stellar in the Macon net. Columbus outshot the Mayhem 51-25. Bartus' 50 saves gave him a save percentage of .980 for the game. The 50 saves also set a new Mayhem standard eclipsing the 45 saves Bartus made in a 4-1 loss at Pensacola on December 4th.

Andy Bathgate gave Columbus an early lead, scoring when the goal behind Bartus was off the goal line in its correct position. But it was all Mayhem on the scoresheet after that.

Matt Robertson and Jake Trask scored in the first period. Shawn Skelly and Lucas LaBelle added second period tallies just 33 seconds apart. Joshua Ranalli capped the record night just under five minutes into the third period. The Mayhem had two power play goals and two unassisted goals in the game.

Prior to the game, the Mayhem signed center Stephen Pierog and waived left wing Austin Daae.

With the franchise record five goals, the Mayhem surpass the Marco's three goal challenge. Fans who order from Marco's Pizza on Saturday will receive a 25% discount on their order. The offer is good in restaurants and on line at www.marcos.com by using the promo code Mayhem

The Mayhem return to action hosting the Peoria Rivermen on Thursday January 21st at the Macon Coliseum at 7:30 p.m.
