Last time out...
The Freedom surrendered a season-high three home runs in an 8-3 defeat at the hands of the Normal CormBelters on Friday night. Normal jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the very first inning against Coleman Stephens (2-2) on a Pat McKenna two-run home run. They tacked on two more in the third. That inning featured a solo homer off the bat of Cameron Monger. Normal added another run in the fifth and the Freedom found themselves down 5-0. A Richard Lucas solo homer in the eighth extended the Normal lead to 6-0. Then they added another run in the frame to make it 7-0. Florence got one back in the bottom of the eighth inning on an Austin Newell solo home run. But Normal added yet another run in the ninth on an Aaron Dudley RBI double. Sam Eberle hit a solo home run in the ninth for Florence and Michael Pair added an RBI single but it was too little, too late for the Freedom as they dropped the series opener.
