INDEPENDENCE, MISSOURI - The Missouri Mavericks shutout the Tulsa Oilers 3-0 on Tuesday night at Silverstein Eye Centers Arena, scoring 3 unanswered goals in the final 10 minutes of regulation.
Parker Milner played a full 60 minutes between the pipes for the Mavericks, stopping all 24 of the Oilers shots on goal to earn his third shutout of the season for Missouri.
The Mavericks and Oilers were locked in a scoreless stalemate through the 1st and 2nd periods. The Mavs broke through at 10:08 of the final frame when Jesse Root hit twine for the 22nd time this season, with the help of teammates Tyler Barnes and Trevor Ludwig.
Sebastien Sylvestre then doubled the home team's lead 3:59 later when he tapped in a loose puck past Oilers' net-minder Kevin Carr. Matt Finn and Ross Johnston were credited with the assists on the play.
Tulsa pulled Carr from the crease for an extra attacker in the final minutes of regulation, and as the clock ticked past the final minute Reed Seckel made the Mavs' arena erupt once more when he scored an empty-net goal for a 3-0 lead at 19:06. Rookie Tanner Fritz took the lone helper on the final tally of the game.
The Mavericks overall record improves to 39-6-2-1 at the top of the ECHL with 81 points.
Tickets for all Missouri Mavericks home games are available online at TicketMaster.com and in-person at the arena box office.
