Mavericks Host Ryan Christian Love Fund Auction Saturday

March 12, 2010 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Kansas City Mavericks News Release

INDEPENDENCE, Missouri - The Missouri Mavericks of the Central Hockey League will host an auction at their game on Saturday, March 13 for the daughter of Mavericks' forward Jeff Christian. Ryan Christian was recently diagnosed with Pediatric Adrenalcortical Carcinoma, a rare disease that affects one in a million, and proceeds from the auction will go directly to the Christian family and their mounting expenses.

The Mavericks and Christians have been overwhelmed by the support and have collected auction items from many professional sports teams and organizations throughout North America. The silent auction will feature over 150 items and includes the following items: Mavericks' warm-up jerseys featuring Christian's number 72, Wayne Gretzky signed jersey and stick, Patrick Kane signed stick, multiple jerseys from the NHL, AHL and CHL, and many other items.

The silent auction will begin when the doors open at 6 p.m. and will last until 10 minutes after the game ends. Due to the abundance of items, the winning bidders will not have the ability to pay until Monday, March 15 starting at 8:30 a.m. at the Mavericks office. The Mavericks will post all of the winners, and the items they won on their website at www.MissouriMavericks.com.

The winning bidders will have until Wednesday, March 17 to pay for their items, and after that time, the items will be available for the next highest bidder. The Mavericks front office is located inside the Independence Events Center.

In addition to the silent auction, the Mavericks will sell t-shirts for $20 and bracelets for $5 in which all of the money raised will go directly to the Christians.

Fans are encouraged to wear pink to the game in honor of Ryan and her favorite color.

Fans are also encouraged to bring hats to the game to throw on the ice after the Mavericks first goal. The hats will then be donated to Ryan and the kids at St. Judes hospital who are undergoing cancer treatment.

Saturday's game against the Odessa Jackalopes is already sold out, however tickets to the Mavericks' first possible playoff game will go on sale on Tuesday, March 16. For more information visit www.MissouriMavericks.com.
