Amarillo, TX - The Wichita Thunder earned their ninth victory of the season Friday night, winning 6-3 over the Amarillo Gorillas.

The Thunder came out strong in the first period. Bobby Hughes, Joel Hanson, and Kevin Cooper each notched a goal for the contest's first three. One minute after Gorillas goaltender Tuomas Lohtander was pulled, defenseman Andy Brennan gunned his shot past Thunder netminder Scott Campbell for his sixth on the season. Amarillo forward Chris Cloud added to the Gorillas comeback with a tally at the 15:25 mark. Wichita 3, Amarillo 2.

Wichita fired home another three goals after the midway point of the second period, giving the Thunder the 6-2 lead. Despite surrendering those three markers, Mike Brown stopped 15 of 18 shots in the frame including a spectacular glove save while moving from right to left on Thunder forward Ryan Campbell. Wichita 6, Amarillo 2 after two periods of play.

The Gorillas halted the Thunder attack in the third period and received a goal from Jake Morissette (his 24th on the year) at the 1:27 mark, but fell short, losing 6-3.

Chris Cloud's first period goal was his first since January 16th...Captain Gordon Bell earned an assist in the first period and has points in five of his last six games...with his third period goal, Jake Morissette has 6 points over his last 6 games.

Amarillo will face the Wichita Thunder once more tomorrow night. The game broadcast can be heard on 1550 AM ESPN Deportes Radio and on CHL-TV beginning at 6:55pm CST. Fans will have an opportunity to win an autographed photo of a Gorillas player during the second period of the game broadcast by answering a trivia question on the Gorillas' Facebook page.
