CHECKING THE RIVALRY
The Mavericks are facing the Mallards tonight for the first of 10 meetings this season and the first of five to be played at the iWireless Center. Missouri has a 13-4-3 all-time ECHL record against Quad City, including a 5-1-1 record on the road. Last season the Mavericks claimed a 4-3 OT win in Quad City on Nov. 4 - their only regular season visit to play the Mallards. Quad City is back at home after a 2-1-0 road trip that saw the Mallards pick up two wins in Rapid City against the Rush. They combined for seven goals in the wins and are led by Justin Kovacs with six points (3g, 3a) in four games. The Mavericks, meanwhile are starting up their second three-game road trip in October and are looking for their first road win. Missouri had 23 road wins last season.
BACK IN THE OLD IRON LUNG
Some coaches and players say that road trips are the best way to bring a team together. If that is true, the Mavericks should be the closest team in the ECHL after October is over. Missouri is back on the road for its second three-game road trip in October, which will finish out a stretch of six of seven games away from home. Upon returning home from Sunday's game in Brampton the Mavericks will have traveled 3,355 combined miles for road games this month. From Nov. 4 to 15 the Mavericks will play four of five games at home.
