Fuel Add Chris Williams to Blue Line
October 26, 2016 - ECHL (ECHL)
Indy Fuel News Release
INDIANAPOLIS - The Indy Fuel, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Chicago Blackhawks and the AHL's Rockford IceHogs, announced Wednesday that they have signed defenseman Chris Williams. The rookie blueliner made his professional debut last spring with the ECHL's Norfolk Admirals, after completing his collegiate career with the University of Alaska-Anchorage.
Williams, 25, recorded a pair of assists and a +2 rating, in addition to 13 penalty minutes in 12 games with the Admirals in 2015-16. In four NCAA seasons with the Seawolves, the 6-foot-2, 220-pound defender logged one goal and 11 assists in 128 total contests. Prior to going to school, Williams spent two seasons with the Powell River Kings of the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL), where he compiled 56 points (12g, 44a) and 172 penalty minutes over 115 games. The native of Pottstown, Penn. served as the River Kings' captain in 2011-12, helping them to a BCHL playoff berth.
The signing fills the vacant spot in the Fuel's active roster left by defenseman Zach Miskovic. Indy's captain was placed on the 21-Day Injured Reserve list on Oct. 22.
Next Home Game: Friday, October 28 vs. Tulsa Oilers - 7:35 p.m. The Fuel and CHN are celebrating healthy lifestyles in conjunction with the first annual Fuel 5K Run/Walk on October 22. Race participants can attend the game for free and will be recognized.
