WICHITA, Kan. - The Missouri Mavericks are on the road for their final game before the Christmas break. Tonight they square off against the Wichita Thunder in Game 3 of the "Visit Independence, Visit Wichita" Cup. Wichita leads the series two games to none.
WHO: Missouri Mavericks (10-12-5) at Wichita Thunder (11-10-1)
WHAT: Season Game #28, Away Game #18, "Visit Independence, Visit Wichita" Cup Game 3. Missouri trails the series two games to none. The winner of the series will receive a trophy and $2,000 to contribute to its local youth hockey organization.
WHEN: Friday, December 23, 2016 at 7:05 p.m.

CHECKING THE RIVALRY
The Mavericks are facing the Thunder tonight for the third of 13 meetings this season and the third of six at INTRUST Bank Arena. The Mavericks are 0-2-0 in the "Visit Independence, Visit Wichita" Cup after dropping a 4-3 decision in Wichita on December 11. The Mavericks have surrendered four goals in each of their first two trips to Wichita this season and have lost consecutive games in Wichita for the first time in nearly two years. The last time Wichita beat the Mavericks back-to-back on home ice was Dec. 30, 2014 and Feb. 13, 2015. That was part of a four-game stretch where the Mavericks did not win a game in Wichita from Nov. 16, 2014 to Feb. 13, 2015.
ONE-TIMER * The Mavericks have scored 10 of their 15 power play goals on the road this season. They were 2-for-6 in Wichita on December 11. Missouri leads the league with 130 power play chances on the season.
