
Mavericks' Effinger Named CHL Goaltender of the Week for Third Time

INDEPENDENCE, Missouri - Missouri Mavericks' goaltender Charlie Effinger was named the Oakley Central Hockey League (CHL) Goaltender of the Week for the period ending February 12, 2012. The Belleville, Illinois native becomes the first goaltender to win the weekly honor three times in a season since Brett Jaeger (Texas) did so in the 2009-10 season. Effinger also earned the recognition on November 1 and January 17. In recognition of his achievement, Effinger will receive a special gift from Oakley.
Effinger finished the week with a 3-0-0 record, 1.66 goals against average and made 79 saves on 84 shots for a .940 save percentage. He beat the Rapid City Rush in three consecutive games, stopping 24, 37 and 18 shots on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday nights last week respectively.
In total, Effinger is 22-9-1 this season with a 2.77 goals-against average and .919 save percentage. He ranks second in the CHL with 22 wins this season and his save percentage ranks tied for fifth amongst all CHL goaltenders.
