Missouri's Charlie Effinger Named Oakley CHL Goaltender of the Week

GLENDALE, AZ (February 14, 2012) -The Central Hockey League announced today that Missouri's Charlie Effinger has been named the Oakley Central Hockey League Goaltender of the Week for the period ending February 12, 2012.

Effinger becomes the first goaltender to win the weekly honor three times in a season since Brett Jaeger (Texas) did so in the 2009-10 season. Effinger also earned the recognition on November 1 and January 17.
The Belleville, Illinois native had a perfect week going undefeated in three games, all against the Rapid City Rush. Effinger's three games came over a four day span and saw him turn away 79 of 84 shots(.940 save percentage). The third-year pro has won five straight starts and is 11-2-1 with 35 goals allowed over his last 14 games.
The week started on Tuesday night with a 24-save effort in a 2-1 win over the Rush and then continued on with back-to-back games in Rapid City. In the first game on Thursday night, Effinger made 37 saves in a 4-2 win and then followed that up with 18 saves in a 3-2 win on Friday night.
The 6-1, 188-pound goaltender is second in the CHL with 22 wins and is currently sitting with a 2.77 goals against average and a .919 save percentage.
