HARTFORD, Conn. - Mat Bodie scored the overtime winner as the Hartford Wolf Pack defeated the Sound Tigers 2-1 on Saturday night at XL Center.

After a scoreless, uneventful first period, Bridgeport got the best chance of the game five minutes into the second. While shorthanded, Johan Sundstrom broke in all alone on Mackenzie Skapski, but fired the puck high and over the net. It was not the last time special teams played a role in the game.

It was the Sound Tigers who eventually opened the scoring midway through the game. After Ryan Potulny was called for hooking, Harry Zolnierczyk found C.J. Stretch with a beautiful feed and Stretch finished for the power play goal. Andrey Pedan received an assist on the play, his first point since Oct. 12 against St. John's.

Right before the end of the second, Chris Langkow was sent to the box for hooking and the Wolf Pack made the Sound Tigers pay. Chris Bourque found himself alone above the right circle and fired a shot through Kevin Poulin for his seventh of the season.

The Wolf Pack looked as if they were going to take the lead midway through the third, as a chance in front ended up right on the stick of Danny Kristo. The Hartford forward fired the puck just over the net, keeping the game tied at 1-1.

With just 1:15 left to go in the third period, Mike Halmo took a holding penalty just inside the Bridgeport zone. After taking the penalty, Halmo was also assessed two extra minutes for unsportsmanlike conduct and given a ten-minute misconduct. The Sound Tigers were forced to start the overtime frame down a man.

While shorthanded, Poulin made a brilliant spinning save to keep the game going. The Sound Tigers eventually killed of the penalty and played 3-on-3 late into overtime. Then it was Bodie, converting on a 3-on-2, wristing one past Poulin to end the game.

Poulin finished with 26 saves in the game and was named the third star. The Sound Tigers power play went 1-for-4 while the penalty kill went 6-for-7.
