Harrisburg Senators News Release
The Senators climbed back to .500 with a 7-3 win over the Bowie Baysox on Friday night in Bowie. The Sens are now 69-69 and with the win kept their slim playoff hopes alive as both Reading and Erie lost Friday night.
The Senators pounded out six doubles in the game, tying a season high. They scored twice in the first on three doubles to take a 2-0 lead. After Bowie trimmed the game to 2-1, the Sens scored a run in the fifth on two doubles to take a 3-1 lead. Bowie again cut the lead to a run in the bottom of the fifth, but that was as close as they would get.
Chris Marrero, who doubled in a run in the first, hit his first AA home run, a two-run shot to left, to put the Sens up 5-2 in the eighth. Bowie scored a run in the bottom of the inning, but the Sens tacked on two in the ninth on an RBI ground out and a double off the bat of Joel Guzman.
Jemel Spearman, Francisco Plasencia, Guzman and Marrero all had two hits for the Sens. Ricardo Nanita, Marvin Lowrance, Marrero, Plasencia, Spearman, and Guzman all had doubles.
Adrian Alaniz picked up the win in relief of Aaron Thompson. Alaniz went three innings allowing two runs on three hits. Jesse Estrada pitched the final two innings earning his first save for the Sens.
The season ending series continues on Saturday afternoon with a doubleheader beginning at 5:35pm. RH Erik Arnesen takes the hill in game one while the game two starter for the Sens is undecided.
