ENTERING TONIGHT'S ACTION...
Tonight, the SeaWolves begin their final regular season series at Canal Park as they open up a four-game series against the division champion Akron Aeros (Cleveland Indians). The 'Wolves playoff hopes suffered a big blow after falling to Harrisburg 4-3 on Thursday night. The 'Wolves are now a game behind the Reading Phillies heading into the final four games. Reading begins a five-game series at Connecticut tonight. The SeaWolves need a good showing in Akron and help from the Defenders in order to clinch the Southern Division wild card spot. Reading's magic number is four to clinch the last remaining Southern Division spot...Santo De Leon has driven in nine runs over the last five games including the game-tying runs in last night's loss to the Senators...Casper Wells had a 14-game hitting streak snapped last night going 0-for-3 with a HBP. In his last nine games, Wells is hitting .433 (13x30) with three home runs and seven RBI...Brennan Boesch is hitting .317 over his last 10 games with a pair of home runs and five RBI. He is one home run shy of tying Jeff Larish (28) for third all-time in SeaWolves history for single season home runs...Righty Jared Gayhart takes the mound tonight for the 'Wolves. Gayhart is making his 10th appearance, fourth start and first start against the Aeros. Gayhart took a no-decision in his last start against Altoona on August 30. In the game. He went four innings, allowing four runs on six hits with six walks and four strikeouts. In two appearances against the Aeros, both in relief, Gayhart has allowed three runs on seven hits with two walks and two strikeouts in four innings of work.
