Marlies Finish Nine Game Road Trip; Host Two Games This Weekend

The Marlies are coming off a thrilling 4-3 overtime victory on Sunday against the Albany Devils. Toronto has picked up three points over their past two games and are tied for the top spot in the North Division standings.

What You Need To Know About The Toronto Marlies...

- The Marlies are currently tied for first in the North Division with a record of 7-5-2-1 for 17 points. Toronto finishes their nine game road trip on Friday night against Rochester and then returns home for a pair of games.

- Joe Colborne ranks second in the AHL in points with 19, despite missing the last three games due to injury. Colborne ranks second (tie) in the league with 10 goals. Colborne has scored a goal in nine of his first 12 games this season.

- Mike Zigomanis has recorded 16 points (three goals, 13 assists) so far this season. He ranks tied for third in the AHL in assists.

- Nazem Kadri has posted seven points in his first eight games of the season. His first goal of the season came in overtime on Sunday against Albany.

- The Marlies penalty killing unit ranks first overall in the AHL with an 90.6% success rate. Toronto has only allowed power play goals in three of their first 15 games so far this season.

- The Marlies are 5-0-0-0 when leading after 40 minutes.

- The Marlies are the only team remaining in the AHL without a home regulation loss. Toronto is 4-0-1-0 at Ricoh Coliseum this season.

- Mark Owuya has posted a 1.52 goals against average and a 0.939 save percentage through his first four appearances.

- Kelsey Wilson leads all Marlie skaters with 31 penalty minutes.

- On Tuesday, the club announced the signing of defenceman Drew Paris to a standard player's contract.

- Jesse Blacker leads all Marlie rookies with six points.

Last Week:

The Marlies went 1-1-0-1 in their three games last week. They opened their week with a 3-1 loss against the Oklahoma City Barons on Tuesday morning. Simon Gysbers scored the lone goal for Toronto, which came on the power play. Mark Owuya made 22 saves on 24 shots in the loss.

On Saturday night in Glens Falls, the Marlies fell 2-1 in a shootout against the Adirondack Phantoms.

Owuya made 33 saves and Mike Zigomanis scored the lone goal for the Marlies.

Juraj Mikus and Jesse Blacker collected assists on Zigomanis' power play goal.

Nazem Kadri scored the overtime winner on Sunday in Toronto's 4-3 win over the Albany Devils. Ryan Hamilton scored twice and Kadri finished the game with three points. Zigomanis chipped in with two helpers and Jussi Rynnas earned his second win of the season, making 23 stops.

UPCOMING OPPONENTS

The Marlies play back-to- back games against the Rochester Americans this weekend. The two clubs are tied atop the North Division standings with 17 points each. Saturday's game will mark the first time the Marlies have played at Ricoh Coliseum since their 5-0 win over Abbotsford on October 26. Rochester enters the week with a 2-3-2-0 road record; while the Marlies haven't lost in regulation on home ice this season. The Marlies dropped the Amerks in their only meeting so far this season, 5-4 in overtime on October 22. Joe Colborne had the OT winner and two assists.

The Marlies host the Peoria Rivermen on Sunday evening for the only time this season. Peoria rolls into Toronto with a 7-6-1-1 record and have only lost one game on the road in regulation time. T.J. Hensick leads the AHL in points with 21; while Ben Bishop ranks fifth in goals against average (2.01).

Reading Report:

The Reading Royals rank second in the Atlantic Division with a 7-6-1-0 record. Brayden Irwin made his ECHL debut on Friday night in the Royals 5-4 win in Elmira. Reading is back in action on Friday night when they travel to Cincinnati to take on the Cyclones.
