Abbotsford Heat News Release

San Antonio, TX - The Abbotsford Heat has now won seven consecutive road games and is in sole possession of top spot in the Western Conference, after a 4-0 win over the San Antonio Rampage that saw Leland Irving earn his second shutout of the season and Krys Kolanos record two goals and an assist.

Fresh off signing a Standard Player Contract with the Heat, Kolanos scored the game's first goal with just two seconds remaining in the first period. Greg Nemisz won an offensive draw straight to the Calgary product and Kolanos netted his team-leading 8th of the season.

At 9:46 of the second period Heat Captain Quintin Laing was credited with his first of the season as Brendan Mikkelson loaded up Greg Nemisz for a one-time blast on the power play. Nemisz's shot caromed in off Laing who was providing as screen in front. The Heat then made it 3-0 with another power play marker just 1:58 later, when Kolanos snuck down from the left point and beat the net-minder with a shot to the high glove side, for his second of the night. Guillaume Desbiens and Ben Walter drew assists on the strike.

In the third frame, with Kolanos looking for the hat trick, he ripped a shot from the slot that was stopped, but Gaelan Patterson jammed in the rebound. Patterson's first of the season had Kolanos and Clay Wilson with the assists.

In net, Leland Irving was solid stopping all 34 shots he saw, while the penalty kill was a perfect six-for-six. The Power play struck twice on six opportunities on the day.

Next meeting between these divisional enemies comes on the 25th and 27th of November as the Rampage make their first visit to the AESC of the season.

The Heat will now board a bus to Oklahoma City where they'll play a pair against the Barons on Friday and Saturday. The pre-game shows start at 4:45 PM Pacific both nights with games starting 15 minutes later. On Friday, you can catch the pre-game show on theAHL.com's 'GAMECENTER', while Country 107.1 will join the broadcast in progress at 5:00 PM, just in time for puck drop between West Division contenders. Country 107.1 will have Saturday's contest in its entirety.
