
Marlies Begin 10-Game Road Trip on Wednesday Night in San Antonio

Christian Hanson scored his first goal of the season on Friday night in Hamilton in the team's 2-1 loss at Copps Coliseum. The following day Hanson skated in his first NHL game of the season with the Maple Leafs when they hosted the New York Rangers.
What You Need To Know About The Toronto Marlies...
- The Marlies begin their longest road trip of the season on Wednesday when they take on the San Antonio Rampage. They start the trip with eight games in 11 days.
- Christian Hanson was recalled by the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday morning and skated in the team's 2-0 loss to the New York Rangers.
- Mike Zigomanis was re-assigned to the Marlies by the Maple Leafs on Monday afternoon. In seven games with the Marlies last season, Zigomanis posted 13 assists.
- Nazem Kadri ranks seventh in the American Hockey League in rookie scoring with eight points (four goals, four assists). Kadri currently paces the Marlies in points, goals, assists (tie) and shots on goal.
- Justin Hodgman has posted a point in three of his past four games. During that stretch, Hodgman has tallied five points (three goals, two assists) and two multi-point games.
- The Marlies penalty killing unit has not allowed a goal in two straight games. Overall they rank 14th in the AHL with an 84.4% success rate.
- James Reimer has started three of the Marlies past four games. Over his past four starts, he's posted a 2.54 goals against average and 0.923 save percentage.
- Mikhail Stefanovich skated in his first AHL/professional game on Saturday in the Marlies 4-1 loss to Lake Erie.
- The Marlies are one of the least penalized teams in the league. They average only 14.5 penalty minutes per game, the fourth lowest in the AHL.
Last Week:
The Marlies dropped both of their games last week, pushing their record to 2-6-0- 0. On Friday night in Hamilton, the Marlies lost a 2-1 contest to the Bulldogs. Ryan Russell provided both goals for Hamilton; while Christian Hanson netted Toronto's only tally. Jeff Finger and Juraj Mikus both assisted on Hanson's first of the season.
On Saturday, the Lake Erie Monsters travelled to Ricoh Coliseum and picked up a 4- 1 win. The Monsters got scoring from four different players and solid goaltending from Jason Bacashihua. The Marlies started James Reimer for his second straight game and he made 29 saves on 32 shots. Nazem Kadri notched the game's first goal early in the second period. The Monsters responded with four unanswered goals to close out the game.
UPCOMING OPPONENTS
The Marlies kick off their 10- game road trip on Wednesday night in San Antonio. The Rampage are tied for the best record in the Western Conference with a record of 7-2-1-0 in 10 games this season. Former Marlie Tim Stapleton has posted eight points in 10 games.
On Friday night Toronto travels to Houston to take on the Aeros. Houston has struggled on home ice so far this season, posting only one victory at the Toyota Center. The Aeros play five straight road games after Friday's contest with the Marlies. On Saturday night the Marlies head to Austin, Texas to play the Stars. Last season the Stars represented the Western Conference in the Calder Cup Finals.
Toronto finishes their western portion of the trip on Sunday evening against Ben Ondrus and the Oklahoma City Barons. The Marlies beat the Barons on October 23, 5-2. Kadri posted four points in the game (two goals, two assists).
Reading Report:
The Reading Royals won two of their three games last week, including a 3-2 shootout victory on Sunday over Toledo. Ben Scrivens made 31 saves and five more in the shootout to pick up the win. Forward Robert Slaney has collected assists in back- to-back games for the Royals.
