Welch Recalled by Atlanta

The Atlanta Thrashers have recalled defenseman NOAH WELCH from the Chicago Wolves.

WELCH was reassigned to Chicago on Oct. 30 and notched two penalty minutes in the Wolves' 3-2 win over the Rockford IceHogs that night, after being recalled by Atlanta on Oct. 26. He skated in one outing with the Thrashers during his previous recall, logging 18:39 of ice time on Oct. 27 against the New York Rangers.

The 28-year-old blueliner has dished out two assists in eight games with the Wolves this season. He recorded five points (G, 4A), 33 penalty minutes in 37 games with Chicago last season, and has amassed nine points (4G, 5A) and 58 penalty minutes in 74 career NHL games with the Pittsburgh Penguins (2005-07), Florida Panthers (2007-09), Tampa Bay Lightning (2008-09) and Atlanta (2010-11).

The Brighton, Mass., native also has notched 17 goals, 49 assists, 66 points and 193 penalty minutes in 167 career AHL matchups with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (2005-07), Rochester Americans (2006-07; 2008-09) and Wolves.
