Edmonton Assigns Two Players to Oklahoma City

Oklahoma City - The Oklahoma City Barons added two players to their roster earlier today. In the first transaction, the Edmonton Oilers sent J.F. Jacques (zhock) to the Barons on a conditioning assignment. In the second transaction, the Oilers loaned goaltender Jeff Deslauriers (duh-lore-ee-ay) to the Barons.

Jacques, the Oilers second round pick (68th overall) in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, was assigned to the Barons on a conditioning assignment. Last season, an injury cut Jacques' season short. In 49 games with the Oilers last season, the 6-4, 217-pounder from Montreal, PQ, recorded 11 points (4-7-11) and served 78 penalty minutes. He has played 109 games with the Oilers, totalling 12 points (5-7-12) and 122 penalty minutes. In 255 games as a professional, he has scored 113 points (51-62-113) while serving 387 penalty minutes. Jacques is expected on the ice in Oklahoma City at practice tomorrow.

Deslauriers, the Oilers second round pick (31st overall) in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, was loaned to the Barons by the Oilers. Last season, he appeared in 48 games with the Oilers, registering a 16- 28-4 record, 3.26 goals against average and .901 saves percentage. As a professional, the 6-4, 200-pounder from St. Jean-Richelieu, PQ has appeared in 212 games, sporting an 88-97-15 mark, 2.90 goals against average and .909 saves percentage. Deslauriers is expected on the ice Thursday in Oklahoma City.

The Barons host three games this weekend beginning Friday when they host the Texas Stars. The first 2,000 fans 12-and-over through the doors will receive a Barons adult practice jersey. Saturday, the Houston Aeros invade the Cox Convention Center. After the games Friday and Saturday, Barons players will be available for a 30-minute autograph session outside the team store. Faceoff for both games is 7:05 p.m.

Sunday, Oklahoma City rounds out its weekend against the Toronto Marlies at 5:05 p.m. Fans will have the chance to skate with five Barons players following the game. Fans may bring their own skates or skates will be available for rent at no charge.
