Marlies Announce 2013-14 Schedule

The Toronto Marlies announced Thursday, their 76 game 2013-14 regular season schedule. Toronto will open the season at Ricoh Coliseum on Saturday, October 5 against the Grand Rapids Griffins.

Weekend games dominate the Marlies schedule this season as the team will play 31 of their 38 home games on weekend dates. The weekend home schedule is highlighted by 15 Saturday games, 14 Sunday games and two Friday night contests. Remaining home games are comprised of three Wednesday games, two Tuesday games, one Thursday game and one Monday game. The team's only Monday game will be played on February 17 (Family Day) at 3:00 p.m. against the Texas Stars.

On Thursday, December 26, the Marlies will host the Hamilton Bulldogs at Air Canada Centre at 1 p.m. Four days later, on Monday, December 30 at 5:00 p.m., the Marlies will travel to Detroit for an outdoor game against Grand Rapids at Comerica Park.

The Marlies longest homestand stretches from February 5 to March 2 and includes 10 consecutive games on home ice. The 10-game stretch begins with a contest against the San Antonio Rampage and ends with the Lake Erie Monsters visiting Ricoh Coliseum. The club's longest road trip spans six games, beginning with an October 27 contest in Hamilton against the Bulldogs and finishing in Lake Erie on November 14. All six games during the trip will be played against Western Conference opponents, four of those six are also against division rivals.

In all, the Marlies will take-on 19 of 30 potential opponents in the AHL. Of the 36 divisional games, the team faces its QEW-rival Hamilton a total of 12 times (six in each city), highlighted by the game at Air Canada Centre on Boxing Day. The remaining divisional games will consist of 10 contests against Rochester (five in each city), eight games against Lake Erie (four in each city) and six games versus Utica (three in each city). The Utica Comets, AHL Affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks, join the North Division in place of the Abbotsford Heat, who rejoin the AHL's West Division.

The Marlies will close out their 2013-14 regular season with a home game against Rochester on April 19 at 3:00 p.m.
