Record Setter

Mason Appleton picked up an assist on Saturday to take sole ownership of the franchise rookie scoring record. Appleton is tied for second in the AHL with 51 points (18G, 33A) in 55 games. The Green Bay, Wisc. native surpassed Sean Tallaire who suited up for the Moose back in 1996-97. Appleton is the first player in the franchise to record 50 points since four players reached the mark with the St. John's IceCaps in 2013-14. The last time a Moose player cleared 60 points was in 2008-09 when Jason Krog racked up 86 points (30G, 56A) in 74 games.

Roster Moves

The Winnipeg Jets announced today the team has reassigned forward Nic Petan and defenceman Tucker Poolman to the Moose. Petan leads the current Moose roster with a 1.05 points per game average, and is third on the team with 41 points (12G, 29A). Poolman has suited up for 14 games with the Moose, totaling six points (1G, 5A).

Shutting the Door

Eric Comrie posted his second shutout of the season on Saturday, and sixth of his career. That mark moves Comrie into a tie for fifth on Manitoba's all-time list with Tyler Moss and Alex Auld. The victory was also the 50th of Comrie's AHL career, also placing him into the fifth slot on the Moose leader board. The Edmonton, AB native has made 128 appearances for the Moose/IceCaps, eight back of Cory Schneider's all-time mark.

Goals, Lots of Them

Brendan Lemieux has the hot stick for the Moose right now. The second-year pro has eight goals in his last nine games, and five in his last four. The Denver, Col. native is fourth on the Moose with 17 goals this season, and leads the team in goals per game (0.47).

The Second is for Scoring

The Moose scored five second period goals in their three games this week. Manitoba has scored the most second period goals in the AHL with 72 tallies in the middle frame. Meanwhile, the Moose have allowed 47 goals in the second period for a +25 differential.

Moose captain Patrice Cormier heads into this week one game shy of 400 for his AHL career. The veteran forward is nearing a few other milestones as well with 95 goals and 97 assists to his name. With those numbers both climbing toward the century mark, Cormier needs just eight more points for 200 in his career. Cormier also recorded his 600th penalty minute on Sunday against Chicago, the team he made his AHL debut with in the 2010 Calder Cup Playoffs.
