Anaheim Ducks Acquire Jason Chimera from New York Islanders

SAN DIEGO - The Anaheim Ducks announced today that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has acquired left wing Jason Chimera from the New York Islanders in exchange for left wing Chris Wagner.

Chimera, 38 (5/2/79), recorded back-to-back 20-goal seasons in 2015-16 and 2016-17, and appeared in his 1,000th NHL game on Feb. 3, 2017 at Detroit. Chimera has played 15 NHL seasons with the Edmonton Oilers, Columbus Blue Jackets, Washington Capitals and Islanders, collecting 185-228=413 points with 890 penalty minutes (PIM) in 1,091 career NHL games. The 6-3, 215-pound forward has also made eight trips to the Stanley Cup Playoffs, recording 12-17=29 points with a +10 rating and 32 PIM in 69 career postseason games.

Wagner, 26 (5/27/91), earned 6-9=15 points with 35 PIM in 64 games for the Ducks this season. Selected by Anaheim in the fifth round (122nd overall) of the 2010 NHL Draft, Wagner had 16-12=28 points with 71 PIM in 159 career NHL games with Anaheim and Colorado. Wagner appeared in 45 career AHL games with San Diego from 2015-17, recording 18-11=29 points with a +11 rating and 40 PIM.
