UTICA - A stellar performance from goaltender Michael McNiven as well as two goals from Chris Terry and Jordan Boucher lead the Laval Rocket to a 5-2 victory over the divisional rival Utica Comets Friday night at Adirondack Bank Center.

McNiven opened the game with multiple big saves in the first two minutes, demonstrating to his opponents that he would not be easily beat. He assisted his team in killing off an early penalty and his strong performance gave Laval the opportunity to find the back of the net first on their own power play, but the closest they got was Nikita Scherbak's shot hitting the post and the period finished scoreless.

Laval came out strong the in the second and took control of the game with Terry's first of the evening and 21st of the season coming just minutes into the period as the puck deflected off of a Utica player's skate and behind Comets netminder Thatcher Demko. Boucher scored his seventh of the year and doubled Laval's lead a few minutes later, and Terry went on to add a third for the Rocket at the 14:16 mark. Not only was McNiven perfect in blocking all seven shots he faced in the period, but he also contributed to the team's offence with a secondary assist on Terry's second goal.

Three minutes into the third Utica broke McNiven's shutout with a slap shot taken at the blue line by Guillaume Brisebois and with the goalie pulled the Comets later brought themselves back to within one, but Boucher immediately responded with his second of the night and Daniel Audette sunk an empty-netter to secure the victory for Laval.
