Manitoba Moose News Release
BREAKING OUT: The Moose saw several players bust onto the scoresheet this weekend. Captain Patrice Cormier scored his first two goals of the season on Saturday. Chase De Leo scored his first goal of the year on Friday and assisted on the OT winner. JC Lipon picked up his first point of the season while Quinton Howden scored his first goal since opening weekend to push his team lead to four on the year.
WELCOME BACK: After missing the first seven games of the season due to injury, forward Scott Glennie drew into the lineup on Saturday against San Diego. It was Glennie's first professional game since April 29, 2015 when he suited up for Texas against Rockford in the 2015 Calder Cup Playoffs. That's a break of 549 days. Glennie put one shot on goal in his Moose debut.
CLUTCH PERFORMER: Nic Petan has a couple key goals this season. Two of his three markers went down as game winners for the Moose. Both happened to be the fifth goal of the game in 5-4 victories on home ice. His latest came Saturday against San Diego. The Jets' 2013 second round pick is tied for third on the Moose in scoring with four points (3G, 1A) in eight games.
CAREER PACE: Defenceman Julian Melchiori is closing in on his 250th AHL game and his season is off to a career start. The former Atlanta third round pick has four points (1G, 3A) on the season, all coming in his last five games. Melchiori is on pace to roll by his 2015-16 total of seven points (3G, 4A) and career high of 11 points (1G, 10A) in 2013-14.
ON THE MOVE: The Moose saw a couple of roster moves last week. Left wing Marko Dano got the call to join the Winnipeg Jets late in the week. Dano has two assists in six games with the Moose this season. The club also assigned forward Axel Blomqvist to the Tulsa Oilers (ECHL).
