Manitoba Moose News Release
Goals:
- Just as a Moose penalty expires, Chicago defenceman Peter Harrold shoots the puck to the left side of the goal where Pat Cannone tips it out of mid-air to beat Eric Comrie.
- Only 12 seconds later the puck is dumped into the Moose zone where the Wolves win the race to the puck. Zach O'Brien sends it cross crease to Ivan Barbashev who taps it in past Comrie.
- Ryan Olsen fires the puck on net where Austen Brassard has the goalie screened in front and tips it in past Chicago goaltender Pheonix Copley.
- Following a Moose penalty, Jeremy Welsh comes in and fires a wrist shot through a screen in front of Eric Comrie.
- As the Moose attempt to clear the zone their pass is intercepted by Andre Benoit who passes it in to Ty Rattie who scores backhand on an empty net.
Highlights/Notes:
- Two of Chicago's goal came just moments after a Moose penalty expired.
- The Wolves scored their first and second goals just 12 seconds apart in the first period.
- Austen Brassard scored for the second straight game and is currently on a four game point streak.
- Ryan Olsen recorded a point for the third straight game with an assist. He has at least one point in four of his last five games.
- Nic Petan registered a point for the second straight game. He has now scored six points (1G, 5A) in his last four games.
- Brenden Kichton had his three game points streak snapped.
- The Moose have lost five straight games on the road.
- Chicago's Phil Cannone, Jeremy Welsh, Ivan Barbashev, Andre Benoit and Ty Rattie have combined for 14 goals and 28 points against the Moose this season. The entire Moose roster now has 10 goals and 24 points against the Wolves this season.
- Chicago now leads the season series 5-0-0-1 and finish 4-0-0-0 against the Moose this season in Chicago. The two teams meet again on Feb. 13 & 14 at the MTS Centre.
- Adam Lowry failed to record a point for the first time as a member of the Moose. He had previously scored four assists through his first three games.
- Jay Harrison (upper body/week-to-week), JC Lipon (upper body/week-to-week) and Thomas Raffl (broken jaw/week-to-week) did not play in the game due to injury.
Next Moose game is on New Year's Eve Thursday, December 31st at 4 p.m. when the Moose host the Iowa Wild for the first of eight meetings this season.
