Checkers Release Drayson Bowman from Professional Tryout Contract

CHARLOTTE, NC - The Charlotte Checkers today announced that they have released forward Drayson Bowman from his professional tryout contract so that he can join Dusseldorf of the German hockey league (DEL).

Bowman, the Carolina Hurricanes' third-round draft pick in 2007, recorded four points (2g, 2a) in 16 games after rejoining the club on a professional tryout contract on Oct. 23. Except for a stint with the Montreal Canadiens organization last season, the 26-year-old native of Littleton, CO, has spent the majority of his career with the Hurricanes, posting 82 points (41g, 41a) in 146 career games with Charlotte and 33 points (15g, 18a) in 179 total games with Carolina.

Bowman is tied for 10th on the Checkers' all-time scoring list and ranks seventh in goals.
