Quad City Mallards News Release

QUACK TRACKS

Streaking

The Mallards have won four straight games- the Flock's longest winning streak of the season. The Mallards won more than four in a row only once last season. The longest winning streak of Quad City's lone International Hockey League campaign was a five game run between December 30 and January 10.

Climbing

By earning six points in 48 hours over the weekend, the Mallards climbed from eighth place into a tie for fourth place in the tightly packed Turner Conference. The Mallards are now three games over .500 for the first time since returning to the ice last season.

The Mallards have gone 8-2-0 in their last ten games after starting the season 0-3-0.

Lamp-Lighting

The Mallards set team single game season highs by scoring six goals in total and three goals on the power play in yesterday's win over Dayton.

Breathing Room

The Mallards won by two goals over Dayton yesterday after playing four straight one goal games. Eight of the Mallards' thirteen games have been decided by a single goal. The Mallards are 5-3-0 in one goal games.

The Grind The Mallards have won the first of three games in a stretch that will see them play seven times in a nine day span ending next Saturday. The Mallards play four games in five nights this week.

Homing In

Yesterday's win over Dayton was the Mallards' fifth in their last six home games.

Special Teams The Mallards have killed off their opponents' last 14 power plays and now rank eighth in the league in penalty killing (84.5 percent). After scoring on all but one of their four power plays yesterday, the Mallards now rank ninth in the CHL on the man advantage (17.7 percent).

Stingy Even after giving up four goals to Dayton yesterday- Quad City had allowed a total of just three goals in its prior three games and had surrendered three goals or fewer in each of its previous five outings- the Mallards rank fourth in the league in goals against per game (2.7).

Rollin'

Linemates Mike McLean (6-8-14) and Obi Aduba (5-7-12) are both in the midst of seven game point scoring streaks (6-7-13 for McLean and 5-6-11 for Aduba). Both recorded three points yesterday. Centerman McLean scored twice and picked up an assist against the Gems to take over the team point scoring lead from Zac Pearson (8-4-12). Left wing Aduba notched three assists in the win.

Four for Four Goaltender Adam Russo has won his first four starts as a Mallard. Russo made 25 saves and gave up four goals on the way to yesterday's win over Dayton after surrendering a total of just two goals in his first three games in Quad City colors. Russo stopped 32 shots while posting the first Mallard shutout of the season last Friday against Mississippi.

Firsts

Defenseman Adam Maccarone (2-2-4) scored his first two goals as a Mallard in the first period of yesterday's victory over the Gems.

Ins and Outs

Left wing Jake Riddle signed with the Mallards last week and played in each of the Flock's three games over the weekend. The Mallards last week also activated left wing Patrik Levesque and placed left wing Phil Axtell (knee) and center Mark Ehl (back) on ten-day injured reserve.

Tulsa Trip Tomorrow night's game is the first ever meeting between the Mallards and the Oilers, who occupy the Berry Conference basement. The Oilers have lost four straight games and have won just one of 13 outings (1-11-1) since starting the season with back-to-back victories. Tulsa gives up a league-high four goals per game.

Komet Krash The Komets are in the midst of a five game losing streak and are in last place overall in the CHL. The Komets have scored a league low 16 goals and have scored more than two goals in one game just once. The Mallards won their first meeting of the season with the Komets 4-2 on October 29 at the i wireless Center.
