Traverse City Pit Spitters News Release

Madison, WI - After never trailing in the game, the Traverse City Pit Spitters (5-2) dropped the first game of the two-game set 5-4 against the Madison Mallards (4-3).

The game ended in the bottom of the 10th. After intentionally walking the bases loaded with two outs, Bryant Shellenbarger grounded a ball up the middle. Second baseman Christian Faust fielded and threw to second in a bang-bang play, but the runner was called safe. Head coach Josh Rebandt ran out to argue, but the walkoff stood and the Pit Spitters dropped their second game of the season.

Chris Monroe stayed hot, launching his third homer in two games. He collected a single as well, going 2-4 with two RBI's and raising his season average to .444. He has hit safely in every game he's played this season.

Christian Faust increased his hit streak to six games with an RBI single. He has hit safely in every game besides the season opener.

Jacob Marcus tossed 6.2 innings of marvelous ball, only giving up four hits. The right-hander tied his season-high with four strikeouts.
