Kingfish Score Double Digits for the Third Time: Defeat Dock Spiders 10-5

Fond Du Lac, Wis- The Kenosha Kingfish (5-2) defeated the Fond Du Lac Dock Spiders (4-3) 10-5 at Herr Baker Field on Sunday, June 6th.

Looking to take the first game of the home and home, Fond Du Lac struck first in the opening inning on a delayed double steal that scored Chandler Simpson (Alabama-Birmingham).

Kenosha responded in the second when Sean Tillmon (Concordia-Wisconsin) singled to plate Henry Kusiak (Missouri Southern) to tie the score at 1-1. The next batter Josh Beier (MSOE) doubled to score Tillmon and give the Kingfish the lead. Mitch Jebb (Michigan State) kept the line moving with a single to score Beier and give the Kingfish a 3-1 lead after the second inning.

In the fourth inning, Kirk Liebert (Kentucky) continued the strong offense by hitting a two-RBI single to score Beier and McKay Barney (Washington). Cam Redding (Saint Louis) followed with a single to score Liebert and give the Kingfish a 6-1 lead.

In the ninth inning up 7-3, the Kingfish added on three more runs. Beier scored Luke Stephenson (Xavier) on a fielder's choice, Barney reached on an error that sent Beier home and Jebb scored on a delayed double steal to give the Kingfish the 10-3 lead. Fond Du Lac got two in the bottom half, but the Kingfish held on to take the first leg of the home and home.

On the mound, Kingfish starter Brock Weirather (Richmond) picked up the win throwing seven innings only giving up an unearned run. Clayton Johnson (Illinois) threw one inning giving up two runs. Randon Dauman (Saint Louis) pitched the ninth inning conceding two runs.

Kenosha will take on Fond Du Lac at home on Sunday, June 7 at 6:05 p.m.
