
Kingfish Fall 14-7 in High Scoring Game

Kenosha, WI- The Kenosha Kingfish lost their first game since Opening Day to the Traverse City Pit Spitters 14-7 Saturday, June 5 at Historic Simmons Field.
The Pit Spitters scored three in the first inning against Kingfish starter Dalton Wiggins (Marietta). The Kingfish answered on a two-run home run from Kirk Liebert (Kentucky). Liebert extended his hit streak to five, and has reached base in every game this season.
Kenosha and Traverse City went back and forth throughout the game, with the Pit Spitters picking up three in the top of the second and the Kingfish answering with two in the bottom of the same inning on a Josh Leslie (McNeese State) single and Pit Spitter error.
The Kingfish took the lead in the fourth inning on a Liebert double and multiple errors. Traverse City regained the lead with a six run sixth inning, and would go on to score two more before the end of the game.
Harry Deliyannis (Pomona-Pitzer) was credited with the loss for Kenosha, and Traverse City reliever Patrick Hohlfeld (Jefferson) got the win. Liebert ended the game 4-4 with a home run and a double, and both McKay Barney (Washington) and Leslie went 2-4 with an RBI.
Kenosha will travel to Fond Du Lac Sunday, June 6 at 1:05 p.m. CT before returning home for a three game home stand.
