La Crosse Loggers News Release
LA CROSSE, Wis - The Larks beat the Loggers in a 10-3 contest last night for the series split. Even with the Loggers' loss last night, they stay in second place in the Great Plains East. For the Larks, the win kept them tied for second place in the Great Plains West.
The Loggers bats were anything but quiet, as they 9 hits, but struggled to convert those hits into runs. A couple of Logger home runs by TJ Manteufel (Bradley) and Ben Snapp (Eastern Illinois) kept the fans engaged but ultimately was not enough to win the game. The Larks first struck in the 4th inning with a Spencer Sarringar (Northern State University) home run and never lost their lead.
Loggers' pitching struggled yet again, as it seems like their control is just not there. They walked 6 and hit 2 batters, giving 8 free bases to the Larks. Tony Roca (North Florida) made the start for La Crosse; he went 4.1 giving up 3 earned runs while striking out 2. The Larks had a double-start situation in which Carson Tonini (Minot State) went 5 innings, and Carter Rost (Bismarck State) threw the remaining 4.
While the Loggers may have lost, the Loggers offense provided some stats of significance. Aidan Sweatt and TJ Manteufel both had multi-hit games, Manteufel and Snapp both had their first Logger home run of the season, and Ronnie Sweeny extended his hitting streak to 6 games.
The Loggers welcome the Mankato Moondogs into town tonight as they look for revenge in Copeland.
