Mallards Reach 500 with Win Over Generals

Moline, IL-The Mallards went 2-1-0 on the weekend to improve to 20-15-5 through 40 games this season. On Friday, the Mallards became just the third franchise in UHL history to win 500 games with a 5-1 win over Flint. Five different goal scorers contributed to the win. On Saturday, Fort Wayne beat the Mallards 6-1. Sunday afternoon, the Mallards bounced back to beat Motor City 5-2 in the team's last visit to The Garage for 2005-06. Matt Radoslovich and Rafal Martynowski each recorded a pair of goals in the game. Glenn Detulleo recorded five assists.

This week, the Mallards are in Muskegon on Friday for a game that will be broadcast live in the Quad Cities on Mediacom Connections Channel 22. On Saturday, the team is back at The MARK for All Faiths Night. Sunday afternoon features the first ever visit to The MARK for the Port Huron Flags.

Friday, January 27th vs. the Muskegon Fury at L.C. Walker Arena-6:30 p.m.-Mallards LIVE on Mediacom

The Mallards rivalry with Muskegon hits the television airwaves on Friday night. The game will be available to Mediacom subscribers in the Quad Cities via Mediacom Connections Channel 22. All households outside of the Quad Cities that receive the Mediacom Connections Channel will be able to watch the live broadcast. Mallards Senior Vice President Tim Taylor will provide color analysis while Mallards Broadcaster Aaron Roof handles play-by-play duties.

During the game, former Mallards will be serving as guest bartenders while watching the game with fans at various locations across the Quad City area. Hugo Proulx will be at Cat's Bar & Grill in Geneseo to host a fundraiser for Carter Yackley. Proulx will be accompanied by the Miller Girls and Mo Mallard. Mark McFarlane will be at Packy's Bar & Grill in Moline. Kerry Toporowski will be at Purgatory's Pub in Bettendorf. The Mallards Viewing Parties begin at 5 p.m. so fans can enjoy dinner with their favorite former Mallards before the game starts at 6:30 p.m.

Saturday, January 28th vs. the Adirondack Frostbite-7:00 p.m.-All Faiths Night / 3 Millionth Fan / Quad City International Airport Airplane Toss

The Mallards begin a four-game home stand on All Faiths Night this Saturday at The MARK. Special guest speaker and former National Football League lineman Joel Smeege will be on hand to share his testimonial. To make your group a part of this special night, call the Mallards ticket office at (309) 764-7825. The 3 millionth fan in Mallards history is also expected to enter The MARK on Saturday. The lucky fan will receive a prize package including gifts from the Mallards corporate partners and season tickets for the rest of this season and all of 2006-07. During the intermission, the Quad City International Airport is hosting an airplane toss to vacation giveaways.

Sunday, January 29th vs. the Port Huron Flags-1:00 p.m.-T.G.I.Friday's Trading Card Giveaway & Post-Game Party

The first 1,000 fans will receive the first of five sets of Mallards trading cards courtesy of T.G.I. Friday's as they enter The MARK on Sunday. After the game, players will be signing their cards at T.G.I. Friday's. Players will be signing their cards only at T.G.I. Friday's after five upcoming Mallards Sunday games. Come to all the games to collect the complete set. Also, after the game, selected Mallards will be on the ice at The MARK to skate with fans.

Saturday, February 4th vs. the Rockford IceHogs-5:00 p.m.-Genesis Jersey Auction Featuring a Race Car Theme

One of the most anticipated nights of every Mallards season is Jersey Auction Night. This year the theme is race cars. The Mallards will be wearing one-time-only themed jerseys that will be auctioned off after the game to benefit Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus. The proceeds will be used towards the purchase of ultrasound equipment for the emergency department that will allow for faster diagnosis of trauma patients.

NASCAR Prize Pack Raffle

Beginning on Saturday, January 28th vs. Adirondack, the Mallards will be selling raffle tickets for a NASCAR Prize Pack including airfare, hotel and race passes for two. Tickets are $10 and are available at The Maroon Mortgage Information Table during Mallards home games. All proceeds will benefit Genesis Medical Center.

Season Ticket Holder Buddy Nights

The first Mallards "Buddy Nights" is scheduled for Sunday vs. Port Huron. On these special nights, season ticket holders will receive a voucher for one free upper bowl ticket for every ticket they hold. These seats can be upgraded to lower bowl tickets for just $5. Vouchers can be picked up at the Maroon Mortgage Information Table during home games or at The Mallards Nest.

The Mallards visit the Fury for the second time this year on Friday. The Mallards are 0-2-0 in two meetings with the defending Colonial Cup Champions. The game will be broadcast live in the Quad Cities on Mediacom Connections Channel 22.

Saturday, January 28th vs. the Adirondack Frostbite-7:00 p.m. at The MARK

The Mallards welcome Adirondack to The MARK for the teams' second meeting of 2005-06. On November 2nd in Glens Falls, the Mallards lost a 3-2 shootout to the Frostbite. Anthony Blumer and Andrei Lupandin scored in the loss. In their last 18 games vs. the Eastern Division, the Mallards are 17-0-1. The last time Quad City lost in regulation to an Eastern Division opponent was on February 15, 2003 when Adirondack beat the Mallards 4-2 at The MARK.

Sunday, January 29th vs. the Port Huron Flags-1:00 p.m. at The MARK

The Mallards face the Flags for the first time ever at The MARK this Sunday. The teams have met once in Port Huron with the Flags winning 3-2 in a shootout on December 22nd.

The Maroon Mortgage Pre-Game Show is on the air 25 minutes prior to face-off on Fox Sports Radio AM 1230. During the intermissions, stay tuned for the Swiss Valley Farms Intermission Report. After the game, the All-State Insurance Christy Cox Post-Game Show will air.

Friday, January 20th-Flint 1 at Quad City 5

The Mallards beat Flint 5-1 at The MARK on Friday night to join Muskegon and Rockford as the only teams in UHL history to win 500 games. The Mallards also finished their four-game home stand with a perfect 4-0-0 record. The Mallards took a 5-0 lead in the first period on goals by five separate scorers. Glenn Detulleo recorded his eighth goal of the season during a 5-on-3 Mallards power play less than five minutes into the game. Less than three minutes later, the Mallards stretched their lead to 2-0 on Patrick Nadeau's 12th goal of the year on another power play. An onslaught of three even strength goals in 3:18 put the Mallards in front 5-0 in the first. Samy Nasreddine, J.J. Wrobel and Rafal Martynowski scored 3:18 apart to give the Mallards an insurmountable lead. For Wrobel and Martynowski, it was their first goal since joining Quad City in a trade with Richmond. Flint's Chad Cavanagh scored the Generals lone goal just 40 seconds into the second period. The teams skated scoreless through the rest of the second and the third.

Saturday, January 21st-Quad City 1 at Fort Wayne 6

The Komets halted a four-game Mallards win streak with a 6-1 win on Saturday night in Fort Wayne. David Hukalo recorded a hat trick for the Komets with a goal in each period. The Mallards fell behind 2-0 after 20 minutes as Hukalo and Andrew Luciuk scored for the Komets. Hukalo converted on a goal mouth scramble at 11:04 of the first for his fourth goal of the year. Luciuk scored on a point shot at 17:29 of the opening period to give the Komets a 2-0 lead. In the second, the Komets scored three times to seize a 5-0 lead. Lance Galbraith scored a power-play goal 5:16 into the period to give the Komets a 3-0 edge. Hukalo scored his second of the night three minutes later before Drouin added his 14th of the year with 2:20 left in the middle period. The teams traded goals in the third as Hukalo completed his hat trick just 2:44 into the final period. Tom Clayton ruined Kevin St. Pierre's shutout with 4:40 left as he scored for the fifth time this year.

Sunday, January 22nd-Quad City 5 at Motor City 2

The Mallards scored five unanswered goals on Sunday afternoon in Motor City to secure their 20th win of the year by a score of 5-2. Glenn Detulleo assisted on all five Mallards goals while his linemates, Matt Radoslovich and Rafal Martynowski recorded a pair of goals each. J.J. Wrobel recorded the Mallards other marker. The Mecahnics snagged a 1-0 lead in the first on a goal by Peter Szabo. Szabo's 11th tally of the season came just 18 seconds after the Motor City forward was denied on a penalty shot. In the second, the Mechanics stretched their lead to 2-0 on a power-play goal by Matt Smith. The UHL All-Star defenseman sent a point shot through traffic to beat Jason Tapp. The Mallards tied the game late in the second on the strength of a double minor penalty to Motor City's Mike Burgoyne and a delay of game call against netminder Rod Branch. J.J. Wrobel recorded his second goal of the weekend during a 5-on-3 man advantage at 14:26 of the period. Rafal Martynowski evened the game by scoring on a rebound of Jami Yoder's point shot just two seconds after the teams returned to even strength. Quad City completed their comeback with three goals in the third period. Matt Radoslovich scored on the power play to give the Mallards the lead for the first time. Just 1:19 later, Martynowski recorded a power-play goal for his second tally of the night. Radoslovich capped the scoring with an even strength tally at 14:49 of the third.

Player of the Week

Glenn Detulleo is the Mallards nominee for UHL Player of the Week. He had a goal and an assist in the Mallards win on Friday vs. Flint. On Sunday, he came up one assist short of tying a Mallards team record for assists as he recorded five helpers in a 5-2 win over Motor City.

Goalie of the Week

Jason Tapp is the Mallards nominee for UHL Goaltender of the Week. He stopped 28 of 29 shots on Friday in a win over Flint. After stopping 14 shots in a 6-1 loss on Saturday, Tapp rebounded to earn his 18th in a 5-2 win at Motor City on Sunday.
