January 23, 2006 - International Hockey League 2 (IHL 2)
Rockford IceHogs News Release
Rockford, Ill.- The United Hockey League announced Monday that Rockford IceHogs center Preston Mizzi was added to the UHL's All-Star Game. The game is scheduled for this Wednesday, Jan. 25 at the Family Arena in St. Charles, Mo. Mizzi will join Hogs forward Jason Notermann and defenseman Corey Hessler on Team Gatorade.
Mizzi is Rockford's goal-scoring leader despite missing 10 of the IceHogs first 40 games. The centerman has 19 tallies on the campaign and has added 18 assists. The fifth year center is currently skating in his first season with the IceHogs.
Mizzi has missed 10 Rockford games due to a pair of AHL call-ups to the Milwaukee Admirals. In 12 games with Milwaukee, Mizzi had a goal and 14 penalty minutes. The All-Star Game appearance is the second for Mizzi, who played for Team North in the 2001-02 ECHL All-Star Game. The Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario native notched a goal in that contest.
Also added to the All-Star contest is Muskegon Fury forward Ryan Keller. Mizzi and Keller were added to the game due to injuries to Fort Wayne's Colin Chaulk, Muskegon's Todd Robinson and Kalamazoo Tyler Rennette.
Next Home Games: Friday, Feb. 10 vs. Quad City Mallards. Game time is set for 7:05 p.m. The Hogs and Mallards clash once again at the MetroCentre. IceHogs fans can also check out the world famous Zooperstars who will entertain the crowd during the game.
Saturday, Feb. 11 vs. Missouri River Otters. The puck drops at 7:05 p.m. The Hogs and River Otters meet up for the final time at the MetroCentre this season.
