
Rockford's Johnson and Fort Wayne's St. Pierre earn weekly honors

LAKE ST. LOUIS, MO--- The United Hockey League (UHL) announced Monday that Rockford IceHogs left wing Chaz Johnson has been named Sher-Wood UHL Player of the Week and Fort Wayne Komets goaltender Kevin St. Pierre has been named Southern Sports Supply UHL Goaltender of the Week for the period ending Sunday, January 22, 2006.
Johnson completed the week with eight points (4g, 4a) and a plus-5 rating in four games played. On Wednesday, he had one goal and two assists in the 5-4 victory vs. Fort Wayne. In Friday's 5-1 victory vs. Port Huron, he had two goals including the game-winner. He had a goal and two assists in Saturday's 3-2 win vs. Flint. The 21-year-old native of Montreal, Quebec is in his first professional season. He has 26 points (12g, 14a) and 155 penalty minutes in 37 games played this season.
Other players nominated for the Sher-Wood UHL Player of the Week include: Adirondack Frostbite right wing Kevin Watters, Danbury forward Drew Omicioli, Elmira defenseman Trevor Burgess, Fort Wayne right wing David Hukalo, Kalamazoo forward Kory Karlander, Missouri center Lars Pettersen, Motor City forward Peter Szabo, Muskegon left wing Ryan Keller, Quad City center Glenn Detulleo, Richmond center Mike Oliveira, and Roanoke left wing Mike Wiggins.
St. Pierre finished the week with a 2-0-0 record, a 1.00 goals against average (GAA), and a .969 save percentage (SPCT). On Friday, he stopped 30 shots in the 4-1 victory vs. Kalamazoo. The following evening, he made 32 saves in the 6-1 win vs. Quad City. The 30-year-old native of Sherbrooke, Quebec is currently second among UHL goaltenders with a 2.23 GAA and is tied for second with a .922 SPCT. He has a 16-8-1 record this season and has recorded two shutouts.
