Danbury Trashers News Release
DANBURY, CT--For the second straight night, the Adirondack Frostbite were able to overcome a 3rd period deficit to defeat the Danbury Trashers, as Danbury fell 4-3 in a shootout before 2,202 at the Danbury Ice Arena on Sunday night.
Sunday's game mirrored the contest on Saturday evening as the two teams traded goals through the first two periods, with the score tied at 2-2 following the first 40 minutes of play. Danbury had power play goals from Dave MacIsaac and David Hymovitz, while Adirondack had a power play goal from Kevin Watters and a shorthanded goal by Mark Hurtubise.
The Trashers took a 3rd period lead at the 12:29 mark on a shorthanded goal by Shawn Collymore, but Hugo Belanger barely beat Sly Daigle on a breakaway just 1:36 later as an errant pass ended up in the neutral zone to set up Belanger's scoring chance.
Scott Drevitch scored the game winning goal in the 7th round of the shootout, which was 3-2 in favor of Adirondack.
Prior to the game, Roseanne, A.J. & Candace Galante presented a check for $10,000 on behalf of the Trashers and the Galante family to Adirondack's Hugo Belanger and Sylvain Cloutier on behalf of Dianne and Justin Potvin. The check was presented in memory of their father and Adirondack Coach Marc Potvin, who suddenly passed away on January 13th, 2006 in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
Danbury earned a point in the shootout loss and currently leads Adirondack by eight points in the UHL East Division heading into the All-Star break. The UHL All-Star Classic will be on Wednesday night at the St. Charles Family Arena in St. Charles, MO.
The Trashers return home on Friday January 27th at 7:30pm against Elmira on Comcast Night. Danbury will also entertain the Jackals on Saturday evening at 7:30pm.
Tickets for all Trashers home games are available at DanburyTrashers.com, in person at the Danbury Ice Arena or by calling 866-565-PUCK.
